The use of prop trading
Regardless of what people will tell you, prop trading does have an important role if used properly.
Prop trading will help newer traders to lily pad their way to trade with capital they may not have always had access to, on one condition. The trader is actually dealing with a prop firm that will allow them to do this.
I understand the argument that some are scams, but to say they're all scams is fooling only yourself, i think traders arent always so willing to accept the fact. Sometimes you genuinely might just not be disciplined enough. Or your strategy may not be good enough, you can't always point fingers. Let me tell you why.
When blame is appropriate
If you are blowing accounts as a result of your own terrible trading, it is absolutely nothing to do with the business model, it is to do with you. So of course blame in that case is not appropriate.
On the other hand, if you've done everything correctly, and you reach PAYOUT stage, and its not just a simple process, then there is a different party to blame.
You see there is only a certain level of liability on each side of the fence, and believe me, its a thin fence. Sometimes you could also blame props for making their rules unreasonably tight, but hey that's the risk you take when using them, they have the power.
Why is it good?
Think of it this way, if you truly are as good of a trader as you say, you will have little to no problems extracting the full value of the prop firms. On the condition that they are legitimate.
This could very potentially give you a serious boost up to where you could've taken years to previously reach. With that being said, you will have to lose a few times to be able to get to this point.
If your here searching for whether props are a scam, the answer is , in some cases, allow me to explain.
Props are a scam depending on the person who were speaking about, every persons experience will vary since its based on their own ability to trade in majority of the cases. That's why the ones who usually say "scam" have lost due to lack of skill.
Why could they be bad?
In order to remain objective its important both sides of the arguments are heard.
The value of prop firms is being constantly diluted, due to creators/traders extorting audiences, then leading a bad name to be attached to each prop firm. Is there props out there right now trying to scam you? absolutely. It's the same in the gambling world, in a such a highly emotionally unstable business, some people can extort that to their own will.
Prop firms are bad for those who don't have the skill to use them, YET. Meaning I'm talking to all you beginners that have been trading for less than a year and think your owed a payout. For you guys, unfortunately props aren't for you, as there is no tier system for those firms, they'll take as much as you'd give them.
Now that's a two prong argument, because of the fact that most mentor ships also funnel you toward the props from the beginning. (Convo for a separate article) Making it very hard as a beginner to know for certain what to do.
My advice, refine for as long as humanely possible, before jumping into prop firms.
In summary, if you are looking to know whether props are a scam, I'd say it depends on the experience level of who I'm answering the question for.
